Free parking area next to the ironworks

This free parking area for campers is located in the heart of the German steel industry. The old Volklingen Huette closed down in the 1980s and remains as a Unesco World Heritage site. The main halls are reserved for temporary exhibitions, so it is worth checking out if there is anything going on when you plan to be in the area. The industrial part is free to roam.

You need at least a few hours to explore the site, this is a massive plant.

The tour gives you an nice view on this industrial artefact, contemporary art is placed strategically and rejuvenates the old steel plant.

A very unique camper stop

Great spot next to the Industrial site, we loved the temporary exhibition of German film industry and the permanent features that can be seen throughout the plant.
