This free parking area for campers is located in the heart of the German steel industry. The old Volklingen Huette closed down in the 1980s and remains as a Unesco World Heritage site. The main halls are reserved for temporary exhibitions, so it is worth checking out if there is anything going on when you plan to be in the area. The industrial part is free to roam.

You need at least a few hours to explore the site, this is a massive plant.

The tour gives you an nice view on this industrial artefact, contemporary art is placed strategically and rejuvenates the old steel plant.

The parking lot offers 12 reserved spots for campers, partly with electricity, which is also for free.

It is definitely a treat to have a free spot next to a Unesco World Heritage Site!
