Prime camper location in Tropea – near sea, town and church
Camping Marina del Isola is one of three campgrounds in Tropea. The location is stunning: seafront under tented canopies to protect you from the heat in summer. The terrain is flat and easy for levelling out the van. Really basic amenities but decent hot water showers and sinks for cleaning cutlery. Waste station for garbage and dump for grey/blackwater and fresh water. Next to the beach with two beach bars and 50m from the stairs leading you into town. Beach bar and restaurant with pizzeria on the campground.

The impressive cliff top palazzi facing the sea and the little church on the peninsula (Santa Maria dell ‘Isola) are the main attraction point. The palazzi were built on a 40m high cliff seamlessly going over in the facades of the dwellings. Most date from the 17th century and could use some love and tender care…
The city has a real nice atmosphere, especially at sunset (view on Stromboli volcano!) and the time of the ‘passeggiata’ – when everybody starts strolling around – having ‘aperitivo’ and awaiting their meal. Tourism is the main industry so lots of little shops, restaurants and pizzeria’s await you in the old town. This is Italy as you expect it from the Fellini movies…
