The Kurama family invites you to camp in their large, lush garden on a hill above the lively village of Junik. You’re welcome to choose your camping spot anywhere around their house. The view is beautiful, and the nights are peaceful and quiet. There is one charming natural-style sanitary cottage with a toilet, a shower, and a washbasin. Another nicely decorated washbasin is located outside. It feels a bit like being on a small safari adventure! Fresh water and a chemical toilet disposal station are available next to the family house. If needed, you can also use the family’s washing machine.

The Kurama family also offers accommodation in a brand-new, modern yet traditional mountain cottage near Gjeravica, Kosovo’s highest peak, close to Rrasa e Zogut. Situated at 2,000 meters above sea level, the cottage offers unforgettable views in all directions and plenty of amazing hiking opportunities.

It’s not far from the two magnificent monasteries — Visoki Dečani and the Patriarchate of Peć — both are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites under the title “Medieval Monuments in Kosovo”.

They are definitely worth a visit.

Their churches are richly decorated with frescoes, and the entire areas breathe extraordinary history and tranquility.Also within easy reach from Junik Camping is the breathtaking Rugova Gorge. The gorge, 25 km long and 1,000 meters deep, is one of the most stunning canyons in the Balkans.

It offers great opportunities for hiking enthusiasts, rock climbers, and cave explorers.

Honestly, we were a bit nervous about visiting Kosovo, but our curiosity won — and yes, we made the right decision!

Kosovo is a beautiful, modern, clean, and affordable country, and the people there are exceptionally friendly. We felt very safe and truly enjoyed our stay. We were warmly welcomed with a cup of coffee from Mrs. Kurama and had a lovely chat with her about the campsite, the cottage, and her land. Don’t be afraid — visit Kosovo too! 😉

Be advised

There is no grey water disposal at the campsite, and during high season it might get a bit tricky with only one toilet and one shower — but this is Kosovo, at the very beginning of its camping tourism journey.
Please note that both monasteries are protected by NATO KFOR troops, so don’t forget to bring your passport when visiting.
