Camping du Saint Privat has a fantastic location at the edge of the village. It is a short walk to the village centre and the few shops that are there, but the campsite itself feels wonderfully secluded and forested. Just behind the campsite are forests, fields, and seemingly endless French countryside, so though the village is so near you do not feel like you are so close to civilisation. The dark nights here treat you to amazing starry skies and the only sounds are the owls chatting to each other.

The facilities at Camping du Saint Privat are simple, clean, and effective!

Everything is here that you need. Outside of the sanitary building is a huge block under cover with large sinks, including hot water, for dishes and clothes washing. It’s a great set-up and very nice to have outside. The entrance is operated by barrier, so it’s always possible to get in and out.

Another perk is that the price remains constant throughout the year, so no need to save anything extra if you can only travel during peak times!

There are so many trees on this campsite that it feels as though you are staying in the forest. During the summer, it is especially nice to have so many shady options to set up your camp. It’s all very green and open, the pitches aren’t marked out so you can stay wherever you like the look of it.

Across the field is Lake Chanaux, with picnic benches dotted throughout and around the lake.

There is also a lovely playground for kids close to the water.

During the season, it is possible to purchase fishing passes for the lake.

If you fancy getting out and stretching your legs, there are plenty of lovely walks to be had, around the fields and through the forests surrounding Camping du Saint Privat. Depending on the season, foraging is also possible here (we found plenty of mushrooms in the autumn!).

Gorgeous surroundings and an awesome campsite

We planned a night and ended up staying longer as we had such lovely walks around the forests and fields here. We also had to get out at night with our torch to take a peek at the owls, who were hanging out in the trees above our camper! It’s a great spot, and we would definitely head here again.
