Sleep over at the start of the pilgrimage route

A few kilometers from the town of Totana, on the foothills of the Sierra Espuña mountain range, You can experience calmness, beautiful nature and history. This place is actually so tranquil, that even the mobile signal is very scarce, or better – non existent (some carriers at least). There is a nice restaurant / cafeteria in the adjacent Hotel Jardines de la Santa, in case You don't have provisions, or You need wifi.

Simple parking without services

Being the simple parking lot, don't expect any services. Also – during festivities, parking can become pretty crowded, but all of the cars go away later in the evening, so You can enjoy quiet night and morning in the heart of the nature.

Start a pilgrimage – if You are up to it

La Santa is a starting place of Totana – Merida pilgrimage. Less known than the famous trip to Santiago de Compostela, but equally exciting . We never did it ourselves though, so If You go all the way to Merida, please send us some images and stories – and Camperguru will reward You!

Pilgrimage site – worth visiting for all

Origins dates back to second half of the 13th century

Knights from Santiago were the ones who brought the devotion to Santa Eulalia to Totana, since these lands were donated by Alfonso X El Sabio in 1257 to the Military Order of Santiago and to his master Pelay Pérez Correa, a character linked to the city of Mérida.

Connection to local Via verdes

Plan a trip around Sierra Espuna and visit some local landmarks. Or if being just on the short visit, climb to a nearby Mirador del Corazón de Jesús for impeccable views.

Hideaway from modern world

Don't plan to catch up with work here. Cell signal is weak, surrounding nature astonishing and sanctuary sets up completely different mood. Busy during day, but super quiet for overnight.
