On arrival at this campsite, you will be greeted by the Dutch owners, Wilma and Gerhard, as if you are an old friend. It really feels as though you are arriving at home! They will go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect for your stay and are so helpful with anything you may need.

Ossaicher See is a typical Austrian lake, but do not take this to mean it is not spectacular. The expanse of clear blue water is surrounded by mountains and the view is exactly like the most perfect postcard you can find!

Even in early summer, the water is the perfect temperature for swimming. It is not possible to access the lake at many points around it, and when staying at this campsite, a ‘ticket' to the open field with swimming access is included and is, without doubt, the absolute highlight of this spot.

On the lake, you can hire paddle boards to get out on the water and enjoy the sun and the awesome view. There are also bicycle paddle boards here, which we haven't seen before, so you can cycle around the whole lake on such a board if you fancy it!

Swans on Ossiarcher See
Thanks to the close proximity of the thriving wetlands area, if you visit this campsite in the early summer season chances are you will be swimming alongside a selection of newly hatched babies! The swans, ducks, and other bird life are totally at ease around people, so it is a treat indeed to see such cute additions to the world up close.

Just behind the expanse of green leading to the lake is an excellent cafe/restaurant with a great outdoor seating area with a view of the water. Also included in your stay at See-Area Steindorf is a ticket for two free drinks at this cafe, so we popped in for a spritzer after a swim in the lake! It doesn't get much better than this.

The toilet and shower block is clean, modern, and spacious, with large sinks outside for washing dishes. Laundry facilities are also here for a small fee. There is a disposal area for campervans and mobile homes to use. Each day, you can stop by the reception and place your bread order for the following morning.

With no big towns or cities in the area and not a lot of lighting on the campsite, you should step outside of your camper during the night and glance upwards. The night sky here, with barely any light pollution, is something incredible to see.
