A hidden, family-run camper spot in the hills of Italy
Cascina Mottainai is pleased to have you on board! In this completely off grid site, you can stop one or more nights with your tent or your minivan. The spot is located on the first hills outside Bologna, at 200 meters in height, along the border with the Natural Park of Gessi and Calanche. It is a family-owned and run spot, and their land is able to host up to four camping vehicles at a time. Since the camping spot is located at the end of an uphill dirt road, it is easier for smaller campers to access, and the very largest mobile homes my find it a little challenging! As such, the length of vehicles is restricted to 6 metres. When staying here, you have guaranteed silence, no traffic, no light pollution, and many wild animals to observe.

Nestled in the first hills of the Emiliano Apennines, just a 20-minute drive from the city of Bologna, this enchanting camping spot offers a true retreat into nature. The renowned Mater Dei trail passes through the area, making it a prime destination for hiking enthusiasts.
Children have ample space to play and explore, while adults can enjoy relaxing activities like barbecuing or cycling with the available mountain bikes and fatbikes. Nature lovers will particularly appreciate the proximity to the Gessi Bolognesi and Abbadessa Calanchi Park, which boasts a paradise of trails and breathtaking views suitable for all levels of experience.
This site is truly worth visiting in every season, with spring and autumn being particularly delightful due to the ideal weather and beautiful foliage.
