Spend a night in the middle of historic grounds and enjoy this unique camper spot

At Gasthaus Duller, the historic monastery opens its grounds for a few campers to stop by and share the beautiful surroundings. The old buildings and restaurant are owned by one family and they have preserved the monastery the way it was. It closed in the 1700s so is beginning to look like an old ruin and it is quite a treat to be able to stay here for a night or two!

The owner is really friendly and very relaxed in welcoming campers to their spots. You can fit in the small area of the garden however you are most comfortable – we were the only ones staying the night when we were there, so we went in the middle of the trees, completely under cover.

It is a real treat to stay in such a historic area and campers are made to feel very welcome

There is electricity for campers, water, and you can use the toilets when the restaurant is open. Even if it is not open for business, the owner opens up the front door early in the morning, so you can almost always get into the toilet when needed.

Opposite the area for campers is a lovely old orchard of apple trees and pear trees.

These are used for some baked treats by the restaurant but there are plenty on the floor too, so if you are there in the right season you can definitely have one or two!

You can enjoy a walk around all the grounds of the monastery and through the surroundings fields and along the cycle paths. It is a lovely area in the countryside, really quiet at night. The restaurant is at the end of a road too, so there is no passing traffic here.

Somewhere a bit different to stay

This was a really nice spot to spend a night. It’s so dark and quiet, we were completely undisturbed for the whole time we stayed here. To have electric too, and access to a toilet, all included in the cheap price, is a treat.
