Camper stop on an historic Norwegian farm

Matland Gård has been in the Matland family for eleven generations. It is a beautiful place to stay, located above the Ådland Fjord and surrounded by lush green forests. Since summer 2024, the farm offers six camper spots directly by the marina. Facilities include a shower, three toilets, and a laundry room for your convenience.

Fishing and water activities

This is a perfect spot for fishing from the shore, or you can rent a boat to explore the fjord. On the marina pier, there is a fish cleaning table where you can easily gut your catch. A BBQ is also available for preparing your meal.

Fishing is also possible in the river that flows into the fjord. The natural beach invites you for a swim. Children will enjoy the shallow waters, where they can catch crabs and use the small rowing boat available for free. SUPs and kayaks are available for rent as well.

Matland Fjord Flyover

If you or your children love animals, feel free to visit the farm. You'll find sheep, chickens, peacocks, horses, a rabbit, dogs, and cats. The horses are very gentle, and it's possible to rent them for children's rides.

Fresh eggs are available for purchase in the mornings directly from the farm.

We enjoyed riding our SUPs, fishing in the fjord, making campfire, and relaxing. We were even invited to spend some time with Mr. Matland and his friends on his terrace. This is definitely one of the best spots we have visited in Southern Norway.

To ensure your spot at Matland Fjordcamp, please book in advance through the website or by calling/sms Mr. Matland. If there is a larger event in the boathouse, only a few camper spots may be available. Note that the road down to the marina is steep, so take this into consideration, especially during the winter months.
