This is not your everyday campground

Every morning you would be greeted by either of the hosts with a fresh baguette from a friendly bakery in Vélez-Rubio town. And invited to a round-table for a free morning coffee to exchange ideas, plan for the day and learn more about the local culture. And that is not all, later in the afternoon there is a wine meetup too!
The care of Bart and Paulina is remarkable

Paulina & Bart, owners of Rec.On Project
The road to the Rec.On settlement is older asphalt for the most part, and the last leg is dark gravel. It is not recommended for campers over 7 meters unless you know what you are doing on steeper roads. Still, even in the rare case, there is some rain in the winter, the tracks are well maintained by Bart, the owner.

Don’t expect common luxury, expect positive energy
This location was built out of necessity. When the pandemic began, the owners decided to provide shelter for campers in the area. And most visitors, coming again, remember the times and are grateful for Paulina and Bart to offer their helping hand.

Just around 1000 meters above the sea level, you would get the perfect summer temperature around 25 to 30 degrees celsius with refreshing humidity. Not like the burning dry feel near the sea.
You are in the mountains

Rec.On Project barbecue and fireplace
Some parts of the estate are in development. There is no electricity connection in the camper area yet, but there is pure & drinkable mountain fresh water easily available. As well as a cold shower and outside kitchen. Hot showers are within the estate, not far away.

Rec.On Project showers and toilets
Minimal impact, minimal waste
The whole area is a living gallery of handcrafted furniture made of waste materials. The hosts are artists and long-term promoters of upcycling, they have their eco designs all over the property to buy.

Rec.On Project owners are designers by trade
Find the co-working space with work-grade WiFi
There is a well decorated shared room with heating for the winter and solid working desk for up to 6 people. Plus a large TV. As there is a pretty weak cell signal in between the mountains, you would be happily relaxing in your camper and working in the office, in the co-working space with free WiFi.

Best time to come: Summer
Rec.On takes care of it’s visitors so the place is never too busy. There are 10 spots for campers and also apartments to enjoy. Spring from March to May and fall from October to December might be a bit busier. Winters might be too cold and roads covered by snow. That makes summertime the ideal time to come over and relax in the sun or shade.
