This is an incredible free spot in the historic town of Horn in Austria.

The stellplatz itself is on the edge of a field, next door to a quiet car park for the town. There are 4 large designated spaces for mobile homes in a separate area from the car park, though more can easily fit here.
There are 8 electricity hookups and the charge is only €1 for 12 hours, which is incredibly good value. Water is also €1 for 100 litres, though there is an extra tap for ‘Coffee water’, which gives you around 5 litres free of charge.

There is an exceptionally clean toilet, which you need 50c to use. There is also a small, self-service shop at the parking area – all the produce inside the hut is organic and produced in the local area.
The unexpected treats make this spot all the more enjoyable!
All the standard foods such as milk, eggs, and bread are provided, though there is so much more like pasta, pesto, meat, cheese, jams, bees wax products, juices, ice cream, and more! You can help yourself and pay by card or cash.

Next door to the camper parking are so many activities for kids. There is a BMX park, a beach volleyball court, football pitches, and a play park. It is used by the locals, but not to the extent that there is any disturbance to campers.

It’s a fantastic set up for the community and perfect for campers with kids.
You have a view out to a field, and behind the field is a small stream with a walking path alongside. Behind this is only more fields. It’s a really peaceful area and you won’t hear anything at night.
The town center of Horn is just a 10 minutes walk away from the Stellplatz so you can easily do all your shopping and visit the cafes and restaurants here. The town has historic buildings throughout the center and there are some monuments that you can walk around and explore.

Perhaps the highlight of this spot, and this town, is the swimming lake provided by the town, which is free of charge to use.
This is so unusual in Austria! It is a huge lake, with trees all around so plenty of shady spots to sit. There are actually two lakes, one dedicated to boats and the other for people to swim. There is a shallow area specifically for babies and young children, there are toys and climbing areas for kids, and the whole lake is so big that there is plenty of room for everyone.
This swimming area is an incredible feature and makes Horn a must-visit!
Showers, toilets, and changing rooms are provided free of charge. There is also another huge playground here, hammocks to relax in, a restaurant with a view over the water, and a kiosk for snacks and ice creams.
