Camping Edlersee Geras is a gorgeous campsite found in the north of Austria right on the Czech border. It is a little off the tourist trail and is therefore a peaceful find, nestled on the shores of a lake with plenty of trees all around. Since this is not one of the famous mountain lakes, you can almost guarantee a quiet and stress-free time here, and it is definitely a treat to be able to walk just a few metres from your camper’s doorstep down to the lake.

If you are travelling with your family, this is a great choice of campsite for you. Directly next to the campsite is a crazy golf course, beach volley ball courts, and an amazing playground with a zip line, slack lines, and all the other climbing and swinging equipment you would expect to find.

A huge green space surrounds this whole are with plenty of seating in the sun or the shade. This whole description makes it sound like there is a lot of action going on and it will be jam-packed with shouting kids, but we stayed here over a holiday weekend and though it was busy, it still felt calm and relaxed. There is enough space for everyone to spread out, both at the campsite and at the lake, so you don’t feel like it’s crowded even if it is busy.

The campsite itself has a great variety of pitches to choose from. There are some long term campers and they are dotted throughout, as well as some chalets and glamping pods for guests to stay in.

One central sanitary block serves the whole site and there is an additional room with sinks and laundry services.

There is also a larger, function room attached to the main sanitary building, with table tennis, table football, and seating in case of bad weather. Fridges are also available in this room for communal use. The shower and toilet rooms are spacious, super clean, and with everything you could need including hair dryers.
You are guaranteed a relaxed and friendly welcome on arrival at this campsite. In the reception area you can find information about the surrounding area including maps for walking and cycling routes. There is also information about the national parks in the area, which you can easily head to for a day trip or two using this campsite as your base.

It is lovely to be able to come home and have a dip in the lake after a day of hiking! You can also grab a few refreshments from the reception area, as there is a fridge with cold drinks including wine and beer. A baker visits the campsite a few morning each week, and a butcher brings their van around one a week! During the season there are also yoga classes available on the weekends.
