This campsite lies in the middle of the hills and mountains of Austria. There is not a lot here within walking distance, so it really feels as though you have escaped civilisation when you arrive here! The main camping area is one large field with a couple of picnic tables spread throughout. There are also some additional spots tucked behind trees and hedges. Therefore, you have a nice choice to head for more private spots or to join the main field.
Whether it is busy or you are one of just a couple of campers, the atmosphere here is so relaxed.
If you arrive when the owner is not around, you can just pick whatever spot you want and he will be sure to catch up with you later. He is incredibly friendly and will make you feel so welcome. Wherever you set up, you look out over green fields, lovely forests, and have a view of the mountains in the distance.
It is really idyllic!
The area is so quiet and the nights are incredibly dark – we saw an amazing starry sky here.
The facilities for campers are great and you are well taken care of. There are electricity poles dotted through the camping area so you are never too far from a connection. A water tap is in the middle of the field for drinking water.
The toilet block is kept so clean and there is a separate room for dumping and laundry. There are huge bins here with recycling containers too. There is also a fire pit you can use to enjoy an evening around the fire while you gaze up at the stars!
Just down the road from the campsite is a zoo, which would be an easy trip to make for families.
On a quiet morning, you may hear the tigers roar as they wake up from your campervan!
Other than the zoo, there are some excellent cycling paths and trails, and there are detailed maps at the entrance to the campsite of the different routes you can take. If you have your bicycles on the back of your camper, you will be entertained for days at this spot! There are also some great hiking paths that lead up into the hills too.
We felt really welcome at this spot and though it was a little busy when we were there, we still felt completely undisturbed and had a nice amount of privacy. The views from the pitches are amazing - we never get bored of waking up to the mountains!

Be advised
Though you can pay by cash or card at this campsite, many spots in the local area will be cash only (some restaurants and pubs for example) so it is a good idea to have a few euros on you for your camping holidays in the Austrian countryside. Also, you will need 50 cents pieces for hot water in the facility room – there is hot water at the sinks in the toilets.
