Avignon is known to be the twin city of the Vatican. Due to political differences, 9 popes preferred Avignon over the Italian headquarters and this was for a short period of time during the 14th century.

The campsite is located on the peninsula of the Rhone valley, about ten minutes by bike to the little free ferry (called ‘bac’) to cross the river.

Leave your bikes at the jetty, since the city gate is a few steps away! The camping has a lush and green feeling. The great, new swimming pool and adjoining nice restaurant/bar area create a cosy atmosphere.

The food truck serves some delicious pizzas at night, made to order- takeaway or eat on the terrace with a bottle of local wine.

Stephan, the owner, has a hospitality background and is eager to answer all your questions. Bike hire and electrical ‘trotinettes’ (steps) are on site. The sanitary block is basic but kept very clean.

All pitches have new electrical ‘bornes'. Further improvements here and at the dumping station are planned. The owner is negotiating with the local council to keep the site open all year round.
