Noirmoutier Island is situated in France at the Atlantic Coast, in the Vendee department. The island can be reached by bridge at all times or by old sea road, the ‘Passage le Gois’. This 4.1km passage can only be crossed at low tide because it submerges. Check the tide table at the start!

Huttopia tries to give their customers a nice camping experience. Reception area is light and airy, English and French spoken. There is a quirky caravan-bar with their own labeled wines. The main restaurant serves meals from a vintage Airstream caravan. The meal choice is rather limited – pizzas and chips. The other restaurant on site – La Maison blanche – features a fish and meat menu. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the neighborhood for a nice evening out, but you need a car or bike.

Spacious but still cozy – Huttopia Noirmoutier is not a small campsite
Huttopia Noirmoutier – family friendly camping
Family friendly campsite
This is a large (+700 pitches) family orientated camping site; but it looks cozy since it occupies a very long stretch of beach. For reasons of dune protection only tents and caravans are tolerated on the first sea facing rows. Camper vans can occupy row 4 and 5; a mere 50m walk from the beach!

Beach life on the Island
Plage des Sableaux is right in front of the camping. It is a wide sandy bay, plenty of room for all guests. Though it is a big camping, the wide bay gives you a spacious feeling… There is a boat ramp if you want to bring your own boat or you can hire sea canoes.
Camping Huttopia Noirmoutier – beach cabanas
The beach invites you for long walks, taking you to the other bay “Plage des Dames” with a long wooden jetty and a row of cabanas. You are allowed to search for your own meal… just walk in the sea with a bucket and small spade collecting shellfish, beware only ‘consommation familiale’… what you pick is limited in weight and dimensions. Good luck!
Modern sanitary blocks and comfortable service area
Huttopia features modern sanitary blocks with showers and separate toilets. Washing machines, dish washing stations and a dump station for camper vans are provided. General waste is separated at the entrance.
Camping Huttopia Noirmoutier – sanitary block
Huttopia rents out different types of safari-tents (all with sea-view) for their residential guests.
Island life – fishing and oysters!
Dine at local two-star Michelin restaurant ‘La Marine' or enjoy seafood in your camper
Main activities to make a living on the island are tourism, fishing and culture of oyster, shellfish (mainly mussels) and sea salt. On your drive up lots of small shacks invite you to taste oysters and see the process of harvesting salt in the marshes.

Classic or electrical bike rental on site
Huttopia offers bike rental possibilities and even tow carts for the little ones. It is a nice way of moving around the island since distances are not that large.

Oysters & salt marshes
Camping Huttopia Noirmoutier – salt marshes
Special recommendation for exploring the ‘Marais’, salt marshes where salt is collected by ancient evaporation system and of course the oyster shacks where the oysters rest and are rinsed before arriving fresh on your plate. Le Vieil is a quaint little fishing village in the surroundings.
