Secluded camper car park, tucked away from the main road

The camping area of Saint Eulalie de Cernon is tucked away at the end of its own road just before you come to the main parking area of the town. Therefore, it is nice and quiet, and feels very private. The area of the camper stop is very green and there is no traffic noise as there is no road to be seen other than the access road. All the facilities are here, including laundry and WiFi, which feel very generous as this is a relatively cheap stop.

More

Sainte-Eulalie-de-Cernon is a commune in the southern French department of Aveyron.

Saint Eulalie de Cernon

Saint Eulalie de Cernon

At the heart of the historic settlement is the Commandery of Saint Eulalia, a medieval hospital established by the Order of the Knights Templar. After that Order was disbanded by Philip IV of France in 1307-1308, royal forces were sent to close the hospital down, and from that event a detailed account of the buildings, their contents, both in the chapel and in the secular parts of the complex, and the life and customs of the occupants, has survived.

The Commandery came under the control of the Knights Hospitallers during the Hundred Years War and survived until its final destruction as a result of the French Revolution towards the end of the eighteenth century.

Many medieval buildings survive, together with later ones, inside high defensive walls, making this a fascinating area to explore for a day or two.

Ambassador’s Opinion

A great spot to visit the historical town

We spent a night here to visit the medieval and were really impressed. The town itself is definitely worth a visit, it is off of the tourist trail and one of those places you only come across when traveling by camper! The spot was busy but quiet, perfect!
