When you need a just a little warmth in your travels, these incredible thermal baths are just a short distance from Munich in Germany
If you prefer to avoid the crowds and do your travels during winter months, or if you are on the road full time, every now and then you may just want to be somewhere warm. Of course, you can wrap yourself in a blanket in your cozy caravan, but you can do better than that! Instead of figuring out how many thousands of miles you need to travel to find warmer climates, why not head to a thermal spa? Erding Thermal Spa welcomes travellers in both campervans and caravans.
The Erding Thermal Spa in Germany is located near Munich and is considered to be the largest spa of its kind in the world. This is a sight that you really need to see in person. The whole area spreads over 27,000 square meters and is certainly something unique to behold.
These spas were created around a sulfur spring with a temperature of 63°C, with its origins more than 2 km below the ground. The water is thought to help in the treatment of many ailments, including rheumatism, disc pain, various injuries, and skin problems.
Warmth provided throughout the year
A glass dome with a diameter of 56 meters covers the central part of the whole area. This impressive dome can be opened and usually remains so throughout the summer. During colder months, it serves as a source of solar energy. Thanks to this miraculous construct, you will find yourself in an almost tropical climate in this area, where palm trees and other exotic plants grow.
Endless fun for children and adults
Everyone is guaranteed to get their money’s worth here. For example, in the Galaxy World, there are 27 different water slides making it Europe’s largest slide world! Here, if you are brave enough, you can enjoy the Magic Eye toboggan which, at 365 meters is the longest in the world. The slides are rated according to three difficulty levels and children as young as 3 can enjoy playing here.
High-speed X-treme slide can be set on fire at speeds of up to 72 km/h.
Those feeling a little more adventurous can try to break speed records on the 67 m long high-speed X-treme slide, which can be set on fire at speeds of up to 72 km/h. On the new Virtual Reality slide, embark on a great voyage of discovery through the galaxy or jungle. You can also opt for a little relaxation and unwind in the huge wave pool or the Crazy River, which lets you drift away with its current.
Peace, quiet, relaxation, good food and drinks… what more could you want?
Rest assured, the thermal spa is not just pools and water slides. This is also a space for tranquillity and relaxation. There are various sun terraces and sunbeds under the palm trees. The Vital Oasis should not be overlooked, with its hot tubs, water bar, and saunas. You must be over the age of 16 to enter this part of the spa, creating an adults-only area for a little pampering and rejuvenation!
When staying here, you can also explore the luxurious swimming area, the Spa and Sauna World. Here, you will find a pink sauna with relaxing music, a Roman villa-style sauna, themes of citrus, meditation, and many more. There is an incredible total of more than 25 different saunas and relaxation rooms for your absolute peace. Use of this area is also restricted to the over 16s, guaranteeing real peace, well-being, and relaxation.

It goes without saying that there is no shortage of refreshments found at this thermal spa. You will find a restaurant or bar at almost every step. Choose whether to enjoy a real Munich burger in the Hafen restaurant or have something tasty in the local Italian tavern Veneziano. The Diamond Bay Bar serves some wonderful cocktails and the Flower Pool Bar has some equally indulgent beverages.
Stellplatz right next to the thermal spa
With all this in mind, this thermal spa is obviously somewhere that you will want to spend more than a day. Thankfully, they had campers and caravans in mind when designing the parking area for the spa! The ideal option is the Erding Residential Park, a complex with 55 parking spaces for caravans and mobile homes. You can operate the entrance and departure yourself via a vending machine, giving you flexibility with your travels.
Each parking space has its own electrical connection and is clearly marked out, with plenty of space to pull out your awning and arrange your camping furniture. There is also a great bathroom for campers to use. At the entrance area of the thermal spa is a bakery, which is perfect for a breakfast stop. To be sure of your spot, you can book in advance.
Those without a caravan or camper can opt to stay at the local organic farm just 300 m from the thermal spa, or if your budget is more generous then the Victory Hotel is located directly in the spa.
