The reception building is a small, wooden hut located at the entrance to the campsite.

Camping Schloss Aigen
Staff will give you a friendly welcome and are very helpful. If you have any questions about the facilities or the surroundings, don’t be shy to ask. Toilets and showers are found in a large house at the very top end of the campsite, opposite the pub/restaurant.

Camping Schloss Aigen
All the facilities are kept very clean and everything is here that you would want, including laundry machines. The pub/restaurant on site is only open during peak season and is a fantastic addition to the campsite, saving the hassle of having to cook after spending a day in the city!

Camping Schloss Aigen
Of course, the reason to stay at this site is to see Salzburg. A ticket for the bus is included with the tourist tax that every guest of the campsite has to pay.

Camping Schloss Aigen
It is roughly a 10 minute walk to the closest bus stop, which is then a 15 minute ride into the city centre. The city is full of historical sites, including Mozart’s birth house and the fortress on top of the hill that looks over the mountains. There is also the Sound of Music museum of course! The surrounding are astonishing and there are some great restaurants up in the fortress that provide a breath-taking view over the Alps.

Camping Schloss Aigen
From the campsite itself, you also have a view of some mountains in the distance. It is an impressive site and makes a fabulous backdrop to enjoy from your mobile doorstep!

Camping Schloss Aigen
You can also see the fortress, proudly standing atop the hill in the city.

Camping Schloss Aigen
There are some great hikes to be had directly from the campsite. Just outside of the toilet house is a signpost with the length and duration of different walks up into the forest.

Camping Schloss Aigen
Therefore, with a couple of days hiking and a couple of days in the city, you can easily spend a few nights on this campsite without struggling for things to do.

Camping Schloss Aigen
We visited at the end of winter in 2026 and we told by staff that this was the first time they had been open for a winter season, thanks to new ownership.
The new owners have plans for rennovation work to the sanitary areas too, so you can expect more modern facilities to be found here in the near future!
